An employer must provide employees who are employed for eight hours or more per week and who have been in the continuous employment of the employer for one month or more, with a written statement setting out certain details of the employment. The statement must be provided within two months after the commencement of the employment.
The provision of a contract of employment and/or staff handbook by the employer containing the above details is the usual method of compliance with this requirement.
The statement must be signed and dated by and on behalf of the employer. The employer is obliged to keep this statement for a period of one year after the termination of the employment.
